Arts, culture and social space: Can Culture Make you Well?

The next LAHF event is an open public discussion bringing together leading artists and practitioners to look at what art has to offer in improving the health of society. Taking place at Tate Modern on 13th May, Can Culture Make You Well? will look at the issues around the UK’s arts institutions and their impact on health. Up for discussion will be how understanding of the health benefits of the arts has grown over the past 10 years, the pressure on artists to demonstrate the social value of art and how health has affected the programmes delivered by cultural institutions. Chaired by Jude Kelly (tbc), the discussion will include presentations from Sarah Waller of the King’s Fund and Portugal Prints from Westminster MIND describing specific initiatives they have undertaken with Tate Modern’s Community programme. This event is part of Tate Modern’s Tenth Anniversary Celebrations.
