The next LAHF event is an open public discussion bringing together leading artists and practitioners to look at what art has to offer in improving the health of society. Taking place from 11am to 1pm in the Starr Auditorium at Tate Modern on 13th May, Can Culture Make You Well? will look at the issues around the UK’s arts institutions and their impact on health. Up for discussion will be how understanding of the health benefits of the arts has grown over the past 10 years, the pressure on artists to demonstrate the social value of art and how health has affected the programmes delivered by cultural institutions. Including contributions from Olivier Award winning theatre director Rupert Goold, Sarah Waller of the King’s Fund’s Enhancing the Healing Environment programme, artists and community practitioners , the event looks likely to be a lively and informed debate about the role the arts can play in wellbeing. This event is part of Tate Modern’s Tenth Anniversary Celebrations.
Places are free but there are only a limited number of tickets still available, to book, contact Tate Ticketing Services on +44(0)207 7887 8888, lines open 9.45am – 6pm.
