Art Therapy Practice Research Network Symposium – 4 June 2021

This symposium, hosted by the British Association of Art Therapists, will include presentations on the best coproduction approach in different areas of art therapy practice and research. Art therapy and coproduction have much to offer each other. Coproduction strengthens art therapy theory and art therapy gives voice and inclusion to those verbally challenged by developmental, cognitive or traumatic barriers.

How culture and creativity can support changes to the Mental Health Act – 17 May 2021

This webinar follows the closure of the government consultation on Reforming the Mental Health Act (MHA) on 21 April. Ben Spencer MP, Co-Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Arts, Health and Wellbeing, will chair a roundtable discussion to explore how culture and creativity can support the four principles on which the proposed reforms to the MHA are based. They aim to place people at the centre of decisions about their own care and ensure everyone is treated equally.

WHO project aims for large-scale integration of arts and culture within healthcare sector

WHO/Europe and the Nordic Culture Fund are partnering up to explore effective and sustainable strategies for integrating arts and culture into the wider healthcare sector. Led by WHO/Europe’s flagship unit on behavioural and cultural insights for health, the project will bring together academics, artists, cultural institutions, healthcare practitioners and policymakers from different countries.

WEA London Festival – 26 June to 16 July 2021

During the pandemic, adult learning charity WEA ran over a thousand courses online from ESOL to Art History.  Over the summer it has organised the London Festival - a series of events and walks in the capital.

Stroll out of Lockdown and enjoy re-engaging with people, places and learning. Walks will include sketching in Regent’s Park, exploration of Egyptian treasures at the British Museum and drawing the London skyline. Each guided walk is led by a WEA tutor and limited to 12 people at each event.

Arts and Minds seek Freelance Project Manager – deadline 23 April 2021

Cambridgeshire-based charity Arts and Minds has secured funding for development work and programme delivery in Peterborough and is looking for a Freelance Project Manager to start as soon as possible on a six-month contract.

They are looking for a self-starter who has demonstrable experience of project management and is able to work independently. The organisation particularly welcomes applications from project managers based in Peterborough as this role involves developing relationships, therefore local knowledge and networks would be beneficial.

Cultural Health & Wellbeing Alliance announce 2021 Awards shortlist

The Cultural Health & Wellbeing Alliance (CHWA) has published the shortlist for its 2021 Awards.

The CHWA said the applications told stories of the sector’s tenacious creativity, care, and collaborative spirit in response to the individual, local and global challenges.

The Awards take place on 23 April 2021.

Ealing Arts and Health Alliance – 19 May 2021

Ealing Arts and Health Alliance aims to harness the positive effects that the arts have on health and wellbeing and create a space where impactful local projects and partnerships can be launched. The alliance meets every two months and welcomes anyone in Ealing working in the arts and health sectors or with children and young people. Social prescribing is the theme for May’s meeting.

Participants are asked to fill out a short expression of interest form in advance of the meeting.
