Future Events

LAHF is looking for projects and innovative practice to showcase in its autumn and winter events later this year. If you have ideas for potential events - or issues you would like to examine with others working in arts and health, do please contact Damian@lahf.org.uk with suggestions.

Future Events

In May, LAHF is planning an event focusing on the role art can play in supporting wayfinding in hospitals. Events later in the year include the use of reminiscence, craft and health and a number of exhibitions and hospital tours. For more details, check out our regular newsletters or see the website.

Art Therapy And The Arts Event

LAHF is planning an event for later this year in conjunction with the British Association of Art Therapists to look at the ways in which arts therapists and artists working in healthcare settings can share knowledge and benefit from each other's experiences.

If you would like to contribute to this event or have thoughts about how information might be shared between artists and arts therapists, or would like more information, please contact Damian@lahf.org.uk

2008 plans

LAHF is planning a series of events in 2008 examining the role of the artist in healthcare settings.

Among the forums planned is one focusing on the role of artists in residence, one looking at how innovations in healthcare can affect design and a landmark debate on how the arts and therapy complement each other in health.

All of this will sit alongside our usual programme of tours of new healthcare facilities, private views, showcases of good practice and the regular updates of developments in the arts in health sector.

To ensure you and your colleagues all receive good notice of forthcoming LAHF events, please encourage colleagues to sign up for membership to LAHF.

Membership is free and all LAHF events are free to members. To sign up visit: w: www.lahf.org.uk/join

Arts in the Community

This autumn, LAHF has organised a series of events focusing on the impact the arts can have in strengthening the health of communities.

Three separate events in October and November will focus on the role of the arts in cultivating healthy lifestyles and in tackling health inequalities. These events will also examine the issues facing architects and designers looking to use the arts to help develop effective community healthcare facilities.

Alongside these events, we hope to organise a seminar to debate some of the issues involved in promoting arts events in community settings - for more information about the specific events, see below or, to find out more about the whole series, please email Damian@lahf.org.uk

August 2007 Newsletter

LAHF's most recent event was in July and featured an analysis of the groundbreaking Transplant project at Harefield Hospital . Artists John Wynne and Tim Wainwright offered a fascinating insight into how the project had developed over the course of the past year and provided an in depth analysis of the challenges and triumphs of this type of arts project on transplant wards.

LAHF has a series of events planned this autumn including tours, debates and seminars as well as a special event celebrating arts and mental health.

For details of all LAHF events, please keep your eyes peeled for our September newsletter, in the meantime, please find below news from London and beyond including a number of opportunities for arts in health practitioners.

LAHF Welcomes New Board Member

As a result of our participation in the Arts Council’s GAIN programme, LAHF is delighted to announce a new recruit to its Board of Directors.

Kim Morgan, a press and marketing consultant who advises arts organisations including the Edinburgh Festival, London Philharmonic Orchestra and The National Theatre, is joining the LAHF board after a series of meetings which offered Kim the opportunity to evaluate the work of LAHF and the contribution she would be able to make.
